The Holiday Time and Appreciation

The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is a wonderful time for most people. It’s about family, gift giving and closing the year in style. For some expats, however, the winter holiday season can get lonely and feeling homesick for the good ole US of A is normal.

While holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah are celebrated no matter where you’re living in the world, Thanksgiving is an American holiday and may not feel the same while you’re abroad. Sometimes groups of expats will get together to celebrate Thanksgiving in places like London, Sydney, Tel Aviv or Paris.

It is important for American expatriates to understand how grateful their companies feel toward them for making the sacrifice of living abroad for a year or more. Not everyone would be willing to pack up their homes and move their family to a different country, but expats have stepped up to meet this challenge head on.

During the holiday season, all of us at Expatriate Tax Returns offer our sincere thanks to our expat clients. We’re grateful to be able to provide assistance with your expat taxes and to remind you of how appreciated you are. We wish you a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year.
